The Watershed Protection Department is creating Rain to River, a new 10-year plan to guide our work protecting Austin's creeks and communities.

Over the past three years, we asked the community about your vision for Austin's waterways. Now, we need your help deciding what to prioritize.

* Watershed Protection provides many services to safeguard Austin’s waterways and infrastructure. We maintain drainage systems to reduce flooding, clean up pollution to protect water quality, build projects to fix problems like erosion, provide community education programs, and enforce regulations to prevent future issues. However, we only have so much money, time, and people to get everything done. That means we have to make tough choices about what we focus on.

Some solutions make a big impact but reach fewer people, while others help more people in smaller ways. We will continue to invest in both—but we need your input on which approach should take priority as we move forward. When we have to choose between two options, which do you think we should prioritize?

Spread out our investments to provide a greater number of small-scale solutions (e.g., more frequent maintenance, education programs, repair projects).

Invest heavily in a limited number of large-scale solutions (e.g., major storm drain replacements, low water crossing upgrades, regional water quality ponds).
