Employment Opportunities

Seasonal Office Workers and Site Rovers

FOR INFORMATION ABOUT TEMPORARY POSITIONS THROUGH MARCH 15, 2024, PLEASE CONTACT OUR OFFICE AT 828 250-4200

In addition to poll workers and MAT members, Buncombe County Election Services hires seasonal employees every election to support office functions. Pay is $17 per hour and duties range from answering phones, to data entry, to voting site support. The work is fast paced and often requires overtime but is deeply rewarding. Flexible hours or part time (minimum 25 hours) might be possible for some positions. You will learn how elections are conducted, provide an essential service to your community, and develop lasting relationships.

Multi-partisan Assistance Teams

MAT Teams assist residents in nursing homes with registering to vote, requesting an absentee ballot, and completing their absentee ballot. Become a MAT member today to help these residents vote!

We are looking for people with flexible schedules who are able to work at least three days a week for shifts of 3-4 hours.

The facilities we visit and the employees of the MAT Team are required to follow safety precautions put in place by the Department of Health and Human Services as well as the CDC, including social distancing and the use of PPE.

MAT members are paid $17 per hour and are also compensated for the mileage driven to the facilities. Members must be registered in Buncombe County as one of the major parties (Democrat or Republican) so we can form bipartisan teams.
